Boundary Coupled Bass
What is Boundary Coupled Bass, and what are its advantages?
A: Boundary Coupled Bass (BCB) is a unique technology used in Dutch & Dutch speakers.
The dual woofers on the back of the speaker are designed to work with the wall behind them, not against it. This "acoustic coupling" offers several key benefits:
Reduced interference: BCB minimizes the destructive interference that can occur when sound waves from the speaker reflect off the wall and interact with the direct sound. This results in cleaner, more precise bass.
Increased bass output: The wall helps to reinforce the low frequencies, effectively increasing bass output (up to 6dB more headroom) without distortion.
Constant directivity: BCB focuses the bass energy forward, matching the directionality of the midrange frequencies. This creates a more cohesive and balanced sound. Essentially, the bass is steered in the same direction as the rest of the sound, improving overall clarity and impact.
