What is AES3?

When I connect via AES 96 or 192, one speaker sounds, the second one turns off. At 44, everything is fine! How to configure?

I'm not able to play anything higher than 48/24 via AES connection.  The right speaker, 3209, is totally silent.  The left speaker, 3208, plays but skips severely.

The right speaker "loses sync" via AES3 (last speaker in the chain) and therfore the output breaks into silence for a couple of seconds, then it comes back to life. This is a very annoying thing, maybe you know the problem and can help me out with that?
